Sponsored Horse – Pohland’s Moulen Rouge

With challenges come opportunities. Towards the end of last year I realized that I had become too tall to continue competing on my pony and that it was time for me to consider a junior horse. This was a very difficult decision but one that I had to make if I wanted to continue riding competitively. I really do enjoy competing and my favorite discipline is show jumping. My pony and I had been jumping CA for one and a half years and the adrenalin was awesome.

I set about trying various horses and just when I had all but given up on the idea of finding a horse that I could bond with, the way that I had with my pony Bacchus, along came “Moo”.

Moo is a 7 year old SA Warmblood mare. She was bred by Pohland’s stud. Her sire is Colourful Secret (thb) and her sire is Milan (imp w/b). When she was 3yrs old she left the stud and went to JHB to Rogan Asken. She never grew quite big enough for Rogan to compete with, she is only 16HH, and was thus put on the market.

I have owned Moo for the past month and a half. She is extremely playful and has a lot of spunk. Her movement is stunning and she is a keen jumper. Even though I really enjoy jumping (and so does Moo), I have decided to compete in equitation and dressage this year as well so that we can get to know each other in a competitive environment without much pressure.

Thank-you Beryl for sponsoring Moo. She will be using Sporthorse Mix and we will be keeping some Calm mix close at hand just in case we have some mare-ish moments.
