What our customers said ...

Endurance mix improves performance again

We did the National 100 Miler at Hofmeyr on Saturday and we both finished successfully. We do feel that the Endurance mix helped.

Their pulses came down sooner than we expected in the first half of the ride. Our horses carried us up the enormous Aasvoel Berg with gusto. We felt them to be very strong - more so than usual and were ahead of our planned ride times for the first half.

Bob and I think that the endurance mix helped a lot. They worked at a good rate and perhaps overdid it as they were tired at the end and could not finish off at the same speed, but we were pleased with them.

We felt that if we had given them the mix for a longer period we would have been training at a higher rate and they would have coped very well right through the ride.

The horses are fine now. Bob's horse worked off his stiffness within a day.

Independent Testing of The Herbal Horse's Endurance Mix

Recently, an independent trial was conducted on The Herbal Horse's product, Endurance Mix. Endurance Mix is a product formulated especially for endurance horses, aiming to increase stamina by

  •  counteracting the build-up of lactic acid in the horse's body
  •  helping to prevent stiffness and tying-up
  •  providing all the vitamins and minerals necessary for the horse to complete a very physically taxing task such as an endurance ride
  •  providing the nutrients necessary to maximise the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.

The trial was conducted by an endurance rider, the owner of six highly competitive endurance horses. He randomly divided his six horses into two groups - group A and group B. All six horses were of equal abilities and fitness levels. They were all prepared for an 80km ride in the same way. Their feeding programs were not changed in any way. The only difference was that Group A was given Endurance Mix (dosed according to the package instructions) and Group B was not.

On the day of the ride, all six horses' heart rates, recovery times, fatigue levels and general behaviour were closely monitored. The results were astounding! Group A not only showed less fatigue than group B, but recovered from the tiring race more quickly.

One month later, the same exercise was conducted, except this time, Group B was given the Endurance Mix, not Group A. Group B improved their average speed by 0.8 km per hour from the previous ride, while Group A's average speed decreased by 0.3 km per hour.

This experiment proves that by using Endurance Mix, an endurance rider can

  •  improve ride times
  •  decrease recovery times
  •  give his horse the best possible chance of competing to the best of his ability

Endurance mix has also been endorsed by Dr Coen de Bruyn as being safe to use in endurance competition as per FEI regulations.

Endurance mix improves performance

Hi Beryl

Some feedback on my horse's performance at Saterdays Endurance. I have now had him on Calm mix for 2 weeks and Endurance mix for 1 week.

We did an 80km ride. Usually he is very excited/hot the first 20km - on Saterday he was still a bit excited but I did not have to hold him back as much, he still wanted to overtake the horse in front of him at a faster pace - but at least he was controllable. We finished 4th, rode Springbok/National time of 22.7km per hour and he finished with a heart rate of 54 - it was very humid and the vets were quite happy with this - I am sure he will improve the longer he is on both of your products.

Thanks
Charmaine.
