Question:
The man next door bought a horse at an Auction that was sick and
we didn't know it. He has a cough, diarrhoea and a snotty nose.
Three days later his other horse came down with it. She had a fever
and was coughing, looked horrible, so I freaked out and called the
Vet to see if there was anything I could give my horse to help him
NOT catch this. They said not until he comes down sick.
I asked them about giving him Echinacea and they said it can't
hurt but they didn't know what dose he should get or if it works
on horses. So I started giving my horse 2 Echinacea pills (human)
and knock on wood he isn't sick yet. But I would like to know how
much is ok to give him?
Jeannette
Answer:
Hi Jeanette,
The correct dose of Echinacea for a horse is 10 to 20 grams daily.
It might work out quite expensive to give so many human pills, and
would probably pay you to source a horsey product.
